Book takes you " right into the wilderness"

Mount Danae, Hall Arm, Doubtful Sound from Fiordland: Landscape and life [1]
Mount Danae, Hall Arm, Doubtful Sound from Fiordland: Landscape and life

Few of us get to see the grandeur of Fiordland beyond the Milford road or Lakes Te Anau and Manapouri, but Roger Wandless and John Hall-Jones' photographic book, Fiordland: Landscape and life: Exploring New Zealand's last great wilderness (www.rogerwandless.co.nz [2]) takes you right into the wilderness.

Wandless' stunning photographs are taken from air, water and on foot, capturing both the misty moodiness, the snow-capped glory, vast views from mountaintops and the remoteness of the region. Hall-Jones has written brief introductions to each section - Coastlines, Fiords, Mountains, Hinterland and Life, which includes mention of some of the living legends of the area such as helicopter pilots, radio operators and deer hunters. A good souvenir from a memorable visit or a gift for friends.
