It is time once again to find new rhymes for "beastie" and celebrate strong opinion, women and drink in the style of the great Scottish bard Robert Burns.
Dunedin Public Libraries and the Dunedin Burns Club are again running the Robert Burns poetry competition, encouraging literate southerners to put pen to paper in the style of the Scotsman.
Entries are now open, and must be in by January 9, 2012.
Judging this year is by Michael Harlow and Fiona Farrell.
Winners will have their poems published in the Otago Daily Times.
Prizes include the Stan Kirkpatrick Medal for published poets and the Allan Millar Medal and Trophy for unpublished poets.
Entry forms are available from libraries and online at
www.dunedinlibraries.govt.nz [2].
